Singing songs of times long since passed

by Perfect Little Secret   Oct 15, 2005

Sitting in a cold and windy place
The stone is cold and this place is empty
Running my hand along the words
"And never shall you hurt again."
Time swept you off your feet and took you away
Depression makes a monster of us all
But you, with your happy face
Singing songs of times long since passed
Grey eyes stealing the entire show
The wind kicks up and swirls around me
Suddenly I hear your tender voice
Singing songs of times long since passed
Rain brings me to tears knowing you're not here
I fall to the ground by where you lay
I wonder if you can hear me
Pain rips me to shreds while saving my heart
I hold it in my hands, then begin to dig
Now it lies over you so you know someone cares
No matter where you are, my friend
I love you
The demons no longer hurt you
You're no longer hunted by the wicked
My minions are at bay
Now, we await your return
For the love of us all, let us know you're still around
Although you're burried and gone
My words reach out to you
If only I said what I needed to say
If only you were here with me
