Look My Way

I spent two hours getting ready this morning,
So that if I saw you today I wouldn't need warning.
I would turn my head and subtly smile
Pretending I'm unaware that I'm put on trial,
You're my jury and you decide my fate,
Am I good enough for you to date?

But the chance to be turned down does not even occur
For you, walking past me was all just a blur.
In your opinion I'm another face in the crowd,
Wanting something more is not allowed.

In a world full of people, standing out is tough,
And, Looking my best was not enough,
Yes, being turned down would make one curse
But not being acknowledged at all, is a million times worse.

Tomorrow I will look pretty and try once more,
But getting your attention is like Canada at war,
It just won't work, I know ill lose,
Continually my heart will bruise.
Lying in bed I contemplate my day
Wishing that you had just once, looked my way.
