Plain Ole Country Girl

by Ann Stareyes   Oct 21, 2005

Just a plain ole country girl
Never asked for riches or gold
Just a life filled with love
A gift that could never be sold.

Values and honesty I received
Passed down from parents to a child
Parents that loved their children
And always made them smile.

Still there's times the tears flow
The heart becomes weak
I try to maintain that smile
Then its God's love I seek.

Always try to find goodness
In every heart you know
And if you look deep enough
It will surely show.

Always keep a loving heart
Extend a helping hand
Never will you live with regret
You'll know exactly where you stand.

These simple rules of life
Has blessed me so much
Being a plain ole country girl
That God surely touched!

Being somewhat of a "country girl' myself, I really appreciate this poem, and the emotion that went into it. Great read.
