Meet Me Halfway

by Holly Nicole Williams   Oct 25, 2005

Sam and Delilah were highschool sweethearts.
They fell in love with eachother right from the start.
There was never a day that they didn\'t spend together,
They promised eachother today, always and forever.

There was a place where they would always meet.
It was halfway between eachother\'s house. At the sweet-fragrant apple tree.
Everyday before class was over,
Sam would always pass Delilah a note that would always say...
\"Delilah, I love you. Meet me halfway.\"
And there Sam would always meet her with his silly, playful grin.
There they would hug and kiss, and Delilah always knew that their love would never end.

On prom night Delilah became ill and couldn\'t go,
and without Delilah\'s presense, Sam wouldn\'t show.
So as a sweet and unexpected surprise,
Sam prepared a romantic candlelit dinner outside her house that night.
As Delilah arrived upon the scene with such gentle grace,
Sam\'s heart over flowed with love,
when he saw that smile on her face.
Then all of a sudden, Sam realized something he forgot,
so he gave her a sweet kiss and said, \"I\'ll be right back.\"
And with a quick thumbs up, he flew off like a shot.

Headed now on his way back,
he hopped back on his motorcycle, without knowing that time was
something he would lack.
Excitedly he geared up the engine,
\"I\'d better hurry up\" he said, \\\"so, I won\'t be late.\"
So with a screeching sharp turn, he headed on his way, then suddenly with just a blink of an eye, Sam came face to face with his awaiting fate.

Later on, with worry for her love, Delilah finally made her way into Sam\'s view.
Ambulance and police cars were parked all around. Delilah frightfully cried out \"Let me through, I\'ve got to see Sam, please, please you\'ve gotta let me through!\"
Then a short, stocky cop approached her with pity-filled eyes, and said, \"I\'m sorry maam, there\'s nothing more we can do.\"
So Delilah dashed through the crowd and reached Sam\'s side;
she cried out with mournful tears \"I love you Sam, please don\'t die!\"
And with a weak hand, Sam gently wiped away her tears and said,
\"Delilah, I will always love you, you\'ve gotta stay strong for me, ok? Please don\'t cry.
And with that, he took his last breath, closed his eyes, and died.

A few months later, Delilah went back to the place where they\'d always meet,
and to her surprise, his mother she did see.
When she approached, his mother gave her a heart-felt smile, and presented her with a beautiful, heart-shaped ring and a note.
As both their eyes filled with tears, \"They found these in his coat pocket,\" his mother said, \"Please, please read what he wrote.\"

Delilah,

I love you so much Sweetie!
Will you marry me someday?

P.S Meet me halfway.

Sam
