A Black Rose

by StormyWeather   Oct 25, 2005

He walked by to the very spot
Where she'd been laid to rest
In a fancy coffin, engraved with fairies
And a black rose on her chest

He wept as he thought of the look on her face
As she lay dead in her grave
He thought of the 12 red roses he'd sent
And the radiant smile she gave

Now she was gone, and his love had been snatched
Right out from under his nose
For that all that was left of that scarlet boquet
Was that single, and loveless black rose
