Something to live for today

by Tisha   Oct 25, 2005

Something woke him up out of a deep sleep
He lie there silently not making a peep

Then he realized something just wasn't right
As he looked to his door he saw a red light

He rolled to the floor and begin to choke
As his lungs filled up with the cloud of black smoke

The house was fully engulfed in flames, and the fire roared
As he tried to crawl down the hall, his feeling of
hopelessness soared

He knew he had one chance to save his family,he had one
chance to get them out
He knew he had the courage within him he knew this without
a doubt

He made his way to his parent's door,When he touched it,he
felt that the door was hot
He knew he couldn't open it cause that was what he had
been taught

So he crawled down the hall to his baby sister's room
She was crying as he picked her up,he wondered if it was
their doom

He made it down stairs & out into the front yard
He knew he had to call 911, but he knew it was going to be
hard

He ran to the neighbors with his baby sister in his arm
She was crying ,but she was unharmed

His Mom & Dad perished in the fire that day
But as he looks into his little sisters eyes,he has something
left to live for today
