Dear Mom, I'm Doubting Your Love

by Taylor Renee   Oct 29, 2005

Dear Mom,
I know you say you love me
Please know I love you, too.
You came to every special event
But never did what mothers do.
You couldn't be there
When I needed you most.
You weren't always there to comfort me,
To walk me along life's coast.
You say it's not your fault,
That you can't be there.
But it really is, Mom
Special moments we can't share.
Sometimes I'm surprised
That you really do love me.
I know I'm wrong to doubt you,
Show it more and help me see.
I wish you could have been there,
To see me turn thirteen.
But because of your drinking you can't,
Why does life have to be so mean?
I only see you once a week,
Saturday's the day.
Even then I can't tell you care.
"Don't come up 'till 10," you'll say.
"But, Mom, that's only four hours"
Seeing as I have to leave at two.
"I know, but I wanna sleep in," you say.
Just as I expected you to do.
Please keep this in mind, Mom;
I'll never cease loving you,
My mother you will always be,
Whether or not you love me, too.
