I wish I could go back

by Sorefromreality   Nov 2, 2005

I wish I could go back
just for a moment
to being a kid again

living life without worries
eating ice cream with my sister
swinging with my friends
doing cartwheels on the grassy front lawn
not worring whether my clothes were in style
getting the"privilege" to feed the cat
waking up on Christmas to a tree filled below with gifts of festive wrapping paper
Barbie was my role model
My hair was the last thing i wanted to worry about
5$ made me rich
The playground was the place to be
Everyone sat together
Boys had cooties
I was whatever color i felt like being that day whether it be white, pink, brown, or gold

I wish I could go back

Now my sister makes me feel like crap
The privilege is a chore
Cartwheels cant impress anyone
My clothes are too ordinary
The tree is artificial and half the gifts aren't even wrapped
Barbies are for babies
My hair has a mind of its own
A pair of pants is more than i can count on two hands
The mall and football games are the hot spots
Finding a seat at lunch is a nightmare
Friendships are ruined because of a boy
People would be better off colorblind with all the racial discrimination

If only for a moment
I wish I could go back
