Red Roses

by N J Thornton   Nov 4, 2005

The flowers sit as a blooming sea of red
the sort I love - Red Roses.
It reminds me of the time
a loved one gave me a single red rose
that would have been picked, maybe, from
a place such as this one.

An open piece of land,
only inhabited by these
beautiful bunches of petals and
the grass that swarms around.
The impure ones not letting one grain of earth
which the beauties live in be seen.

My eyes drawn, by the magnificence, urge me
to pick one.
To reach out and steal a soul from it's home.
No, I will not.
I shall only admire them with fascinated eyes;
I shall only smell them where they lay,
not in these lustful hands.

I shall sit with them and rest.
Rest my eyes, my body;
rest my soul.
I shall join those perfect trails in the ground
that gives the strength to grow.
I shall lie in the sweet perfumed bed
of Red Roses and rest.

**This is an old one that I've found and decided to post.**

    Beautiful place, Silver, and I wish I could describe as well as you do and have emotions run as deep. You have such a talent and I wish I could one day have just part of the talent that you have.

    I do not mean to offend, but I must critique; and, I must praise as well! The poem is truly deep and inspiring. You were great detail places the reader in the scene you have described -- however, be more creative with your speech and vocabulary -- changing a word that everyone uses in everyday speech to a more creative word can make a lot of difference! I have added you to my favorites and I hope you will do the same for me and vote on and critique of my work
