Bandages

by Avrii Monrielle   Nov 4, 2005

I know someone
Who I care about so much
And they have the sweetest smile
But recently it's been wiped off
I see them every day
They always say hi
But we never get to talk much
They used to have this pink in their cheeks
To show they were full of life
But just a while ago
It's faded
I don't know what's wrong
But I used to laugh with them
Now I frown
Because there's something about them
Turned upside down
Today was probably the worst.
I saw bandages.
They were big and small
Blood showing through
I wanted to cry
As they slid down their sleeve
For me to take a glance
"Why?" is all I can ask
Why is my friend's arm covered in bandages?
I realised that day
My friend couldn't stay the same
Always happy
Because all good things come to an end.
I looked at them, trying to remember their smile
What I saw was a pale, icy face
I loved them like family.
To me they were family.
And now to think
If only I had helped them
They wouldn't be where they are right now
I remember how they used to laugh
When I did something clumsy
But now they have gone on alone
They're not here to console me
They have their own problems
But I want to cry
"Why?"
Why did they cut themselves
And let the blood flow?
Oh, God, I need to know...
