The Melody that brought You back to Me

Today I heard the perfect song, with the very perfect words
my heart could hardly believe what my ears had heard
it made me think of you- and the tears just had to fall
cause for so long I tried to pretend I wasn't missing you at all
the melody brought you back to me...
For a moment I felt so close; as if you could hear it too
and in that instant it's as if I wasn't worlds away from you
as the song sang me the very words inside my prayers
looking through my tears; our love singing in my ears
the melody brought you back to me...
Though I knew - the missing you - would never cease
somehow-someway-hearing it gave me some sort of peace
I wanted to cry until my eyes were red- till my tears were dry
I wanted to miss you until forever-I didn't want to say goodbye
the melody brought you back to me...
I held you close to my heart until the music stopped it's playing
I had never been so touched by all the things that she was saying
but it was true - and it was at that moment that I knew
even though I was in love - somehow I had to let go of you
the melody brought you back to me...
To this day every single time I hear that very song
I let myself miss you a little - as I sing along
it's funny cause I close my eyes-you're still the only thing that I can see
and I'll always love the perfect song that brought you back to me.

*** There's always some perfect song that sings your feelings back to you- the one that gives you chills -gives you inspiration for a poem. I love when i find that song that's perfect for me, and that's what this poem is about. :)
