Moonlight Swimming

by Weeping Wolf   Nov 10, 2005

Let the water slip through my fingers
just like i used to caress your hair
let it linger on my skin as droplets
like the remembrance of last night's kiss
The wind rushes around my shivering body
Like that feeling of your last breath
I slip and slide through the glossy surface
Just like we tumbled under the sheets
With exhilarating speed we launch off
the air bubbles tickle my stomach
Just like you used to.

swimming seems to both hurt and soothe me
taking me back to when we were together
if only i could go back to one more moment
Is it too late for you to come back
I wish what had taken place had never happened
And yet could i ever regret love..or you?

Moonlight swimming all alone
the sunlight is no longer in sight
Every night I pray it will never come again
But every time i close my eyes for rest
I awake and its back again
Bringing back the mistake of you
But I'll keep on swimming still
Pretending I can't remember you.

I swim for hours, but go nowhere
Thoughts of you floating everywhere
Like the strange smelling chlorine
Your the aftermath of swimming.

And why is it that you so fascinate me?
Maybe this love is just like swimming
as the water slips through my fingers
I loose another drop of love from you

Swimming under the moon
thoughts tangled in you
let me slowly drown
in memories of you.

This is fantastic. The swimming metaphor is cool and works well.It is full of excellent images and descriptive stanzas.I love oems of love and loss(believe me I've wrote enough of them!)but I will say when you have love, real love, it is worth years of pain and longing for even a few brief moments of true love and passion.Nver regret loving someone. And though relationships end, as long as you hold on to that capacity to love in your heart, someday love will come and never leave, or at least leave you with beautiful memories.Anyway, really great poem. The last stanza really has such emotional impact.

Fantastic as always! My favorite stanza is the last, as usual.
