A Single Moms prayer

by Amanda Chapman   Nov 14, 2005

I wish I had more time,
to rock you both to sleep,
my days are always rushed,
barely enough time to eat.
You both love to be read too,
and held and kissed and loved,
we say our prayers at night,
then I softly cry to the Lord above.
I wish I could give you the things,
you both ask for from time to time,
I always say "Mommy don't have the money for that",
you smile and say nevermind.
I wish we could go to the park,
and do all the things mommy's do,
you two aren't old enough to understand,
It melts my heart to hear I love you.
I know one day I won't be so busy,
when we can sit down and have time to play,
my fear is by that time,
you will be doing things your way.
One day you won't need me,
to wash your hands, feet, and hair,
to bandage a scratched knee,
to chase away your fears.
Always rushed to get to work,
then home to thank God for our daily bread,
before you know it, it's bedtime,
then I chase away the monsters under your bed.
How I wish I had more time,
to watch you grow and learn and play,
before you no longer need me,
for these things God I pray.

For my two beautiful lil' girls Ashlynn & Aubrianne whom I love very much!
