A Distant Cry

by Amanda Chapman   Nov 14, 2005

An unborn child,
a young mother to be,
so proud to have this gift inside her,
a baby she couldn't wait to see.
She finally has something,
to make it's Daddy stay,
to share this gift of love,
along life's way.
One day she wakes up,
and something is terribly wrong,
there's no more laughter,
no more song.
Everything is gone,
It's all turned to fear,
as she slowly flushes the blood,
down her face rolls a tear.
At night she hears the laughter,
of her unborn child,
running and playing,
with this big precious smile.
but in the back of her mind,
there's still a distant cry,
crying out for help,
asking "Mommy why?"
