Suicide

by the one you forgot   Nov 15, 2005

She had talked about it.
Thought about it,
And decided to do it.
Suicide.
I had tried to talk her out of it.
Tried to get ideas out of her head.
Tried to change her decision.
I tried, but
I failed.

Day comes, and
She knows what to do.
Has a plan,
A mission,
An ambission.

Goes to the pool with her friends.
Swims, pretends to laugh,
Have fun.
They look away,
And she goes under.
No breath in her lungs,
No love in her heart.
No thoughts in her head.
Just a plan to stop a ruined life.

She can't breathe now,
Thinks of her life.
From the past few months.
He cheated on her,
She didn't find out until after.
After he left her.
Left her with a broken heart.
And a depressed state of mind.

Her head is spinning now.
How long has it been?
Long. But she knows it
Has to end like this.
The end of her life.
The perfect day to
End her not-so-perfect
Life, that
Lasted too long.

She thinks some more.
How she wasn't mom’s
Favorite,
Or how no one seems to care anymore.
Now she's losing consciousness.
Lungs grasping for air,
Body frantic,
A slow way to die,
But the right way.
She’s sure of it.
She feels herself floating upwards,
To the air and sun.
And for a second she wants
To float up there.
But she uses the last of her energy
To swim to the depths of the dark pool.
Her sight blurry,
Her head aches.
She’s letting go.
Barely notices movement in the water.
Barely notices a strong hand grab her wrist,
With it's tiny pulse.
Shoved up,
Lungs filled with air.
Body limp,
Face blank,
Eyes filled with anger.
Mouth demanding why she was saved,
Saved from her wish to die.
But nothing comes out,
So she stands there grasping for air.
Her friend looks at her,
Sad eyes wide.
Says nothing,
Understanding yet doesn't.
Wants to know, yet doesn't.
She wants to go under,
Swim down,
Finish it,
This life of hers.
This curse of hers.
A 'present' from god,
A 'present' she didn't
Want or ask for.
She’s out of the pool,
Heading home,
Still thinking about it.
Suicide.
