Abused Oxygen

Addicted and clinging to
An aid that helps the sick and injured.
A common cough, a cold as well,
Why would you take that sickening stuff?
Taste so obscure and gross,
A brown mixture injuring you.

Bottle upon bottle,
You seem to not notice me.
I want to help you,
But you just don't care.
Abusing the privilege to medicate,
An overdose just around the corner.

Week after week, stories are seen,
And you tell me how it goes.
Dizziness and mixed emotions,
You don't know who you are.
World spinning with colours,
Figments that you can't understand.

Dosage put on hold for a few days,
Withdrawal, in shock I say.
Body used to the toxins,
Those swim and haunt your blood.
Media no sense of saving you,
I can't scream loud enough.

Memory gone blind,
And legs start to wear out.
Shield between you and me,
I don't know you anymore.
Happiness all screen,
A scar imbedded in your heart.
