Autumn

by Jenna   Nov 19, 2005

I feel you trembling, Leaf,
Barely clutching your tree,
I'm able to sense your grief,
I know loss is never easy.

Cold and withering away,
Dust, now you've crumbled,
I watch you fight to stay,
And suddenly I'm humbled.

Deafened by the wind's wails,
You're without a defender,
So vulnerable as it hails,
Yet you refuse to surrender.

Your battle cannot be won,
It's written in the sky,
Across the retreating sun,
Yet you continue to try.

Leaf, I can feel you fall,
I watch as you're torn apart,
Like you never existed at all,
Leaf, you are my heart.
