To my youngest son~~

You made your appearance on Valentine's Day
an unforgettable event in nineteen ninety five
who would have known that on that day,
I'd be delivering the most beautiful child alive.

You were such a rambunctious child then
nothing like your calm, collected brother
although you gave me your share of problems
I'd never trade you for another.

You were always getting in to something
I'd clean one mess, then you'd create some more
you'd look at me with your eyes that said
Isn't that what little boys are for?

Hospital trip after hospital trip
to set a leg or cast an arm
not to mention the umpteen stitches
you were always doing yourself some harm.

When the first day of school came for you
for your teacher, I said a prayer
I knew what she'd be going through
I know, because I've been there.

But to mine and others surprises
you did so well and to this day you hold your own
now you're acing through the fifth grade
my, how you've become so grown.

Still I wonder will that rambunctious child return
who knows? one day, well...maybe
just remember whatever age you are
you'll always be momma's little baby.
