Will you remember?

by Vulnerant Omnia, Ultima Necat   Nov 23, 2005

Will you remember the call of war,
The men young and old enlisting,
The cry of the mother as her son goes overseas?

Will you remember the men in formation,
Falling out out of order as they're slaughtered,
The desperation in the air?

Will you remember the fallen who will never rise,
The medics searching for lost limbs,
The blood, and the last shuddering breath?

Will you remember the ones who died,
So that you can be free,
When they never got to taste freedom?

Will you remember the cry of the mother, daughter, sister as she's told of the fatality,
The grandmother crying on her deathbed,
The father with the silent tears?

Will you remember the boy right out of high school,
The man who left his family,
The father of five that left to protect future generations?

Do you remember the veteran,
That gave you what you have today,
Though it cost him friends and family?
