Keith richards for president

by libby   Nov 27, 2005

The face of my idol stares out
dispassionately from its
station upon my breast. It swells
forward, cigarette dripping dangerously
from its mouth. It shares space
with a request, illogical and
impossible, but no less
reasonable than the terrifying
truth under which
we now live. "Only a crowd
can make you feel so alone" - this is why
you and I spend our time as two,
solitude enhances togetherness.
Sometimes, yes, there are three,
but really he and I are more like
different manifestations of the
same spirit. I do humbly say,
however, that I am better company
for you, as I lack the ability to
express the arrogance that both of us
hold on to so steadfastly. It is
unbecoming of a
female, and if there is one thing your
sensitive nature cannot
withstand, it is arrogance. I fear the day
I let too much slip, secrets were
never my strong suit. Luckily,
allusions and subtleties are. Let
Ronnie play lead, rhythm is
underrated.

Amazing. Words cannot express the beauty of this poem. I appreciate the unnatural [although flawless] rhyme scheme. In fact, I don't believe there is one....but the flow is simple and perfect.

    Great write,
