From Where I Stand Is Not Distant

The Earth looks so pretty from the moon
You'd hardly believe
That down here, we're all killing each other, but we are

The sky looks so vibrant from down here
You'd hardly believe
That it would sit there quietly while we die, but it does

The people down here look so peaceful from Heaven
You'd hardly believe
That inside, they're full of greed and strife, but they are

You look like a great person from over there
So when it seems I'm invading your space
When it seems that I'm closer than you want me to be
It's because I want to know

Because I don't have a distant view
I can't pretend everything's alright
When I'm not sure

Because from where I stand
I'm closer than the sky, than the moon
Than Heaven, than over there

If I could get a distant view, I would
Please believe me
I would love to stay away and observe
And pretend everything's perfect
Even if it isn't
But I can't
