Just Fake

when they ask "what's wrong",
my reply is "nothing",
when they ask if I'm ok,
I say "I'm fine",

the people that walk away,
after these words,
don't care,
and if they stay they're a friend,

almost NO ONE can see past my fake smiles,
they don't realize,
how many times I've been hurt,
or how many times my heart has been stepped on,
~
my heart is a wreck,
and I'm scared to say I love you,
because every time I do,
it turns out to be a mistake,
~
as much as I don't want to get hurt,
I don't want to hurt him,
I know how it feels,
and no one deserves that,
~
so as the day passes by,
take a few minutes to find out what's wrong,
before you walk away,
it could change things
