Redemption

by Matt   Dec 5, 2005

Smile at your last shot at redemption
You've been tossed around, here to there
Caught up in emotions unbridled
A desperado riding that last wild stallion
Living each second like it meant something
You were never one to waste an opportunity
There's something endearing about you now
Something that everyone missed until now
Maybe it was the fire you kept deep inside
Or maybe it was just your fear you never let out
They say even the ones that never frown, break down
But you're above all that, like that last soaring eagle
Flying high above the world and all its problems
Only to come back down to the soft earth one last time
Hoping that tomorrow the sun will still rise again
There's something dangerous about hope though
Its what lifts us by our arms to our feet again
And what sucker punches us back down to the ground
Yes, this life-sentence you're fulling deserving
Something else must be out there for you
If only you could accept you're last chance
And you're final redemption.
