A hopeless lover's dream

by Ashley   Dec 5, 2005

It was just a normal day.
Working, which was how we first met.
And out of the corner of my eye,
I see something familiar,
But unseen for quite awhile.
You, standing there,
Offering me your best smile.
I run over to you,
Throw my arms around you,
You hug me back with the same amount of intensity.
An amazing moment.
But it didn't end there.
You tell me you need to talk to me later,
When we can be alone.
I agree to meet you after I get out.
You explain your feelings,
That you're sorry you left without saying goodbye,
That you haven't contacted me,
But you love me with all your heart.
You told me that you have to finish school first,
And as soon as you do that,
You'll come back to me.
And to prove that you'd keep your promise,
You gave me a ring.
Tears well up in my eyes,
For I've never felt such a love.
And you smile as I slip my class ring onto your finger,
Promising to you that I'd wait for you.
You leaned in to kiss me,
And as our lips met,
My alarm went off.
Just a dream,
A hopeless lover's dream.
