Daddy, Don't Go

by AnotherJournalEntry   Dec 5, 2005

*it's really a song, not a poem*

These problems started years ago,
When I was only a little girl.
But lately it has been worse,
It's tearing me apart inside.

Screaming, fighting, yelling-
Always ending in tears.
I just can't take it anymore.
It keeps going on and on.

((Chorus))
Daddy, don't go
You're supposed to be there
To watch me grow up
You're supposed to be there
To hold my hand
And tuck me into bed
Daddy, don't go

You've threatened to leave
Please don't leave me here
You just can't leave now
'Cause I don't want you to go

Here I am, I'm falling apart.
All my friends stand by watching.
They don't know what's going on-
They could never understand.

((Chorus))
Daddy, don't go
You're supposed to be there
To watch me grow up
You're supposed to be there
To hold my hand
And tuck me into bed
Daddy, don't go

I'm forced to pick up the pieces
Of a broken heart and a broken home.
Did you have to do that to us?
You knew we aren't strong enough.

I can't handle this pain.
I'm not sure I'll make it
Through this alive.
Please don't go.

((Chorus))
Daddy, don't go
You're supposed to be there
To watch me grow up
You're supposed to be there
To hold my hand
And tuck me into bed
Daddy, don't go

((Bridge - Different Tempo))
You're supposed to be there.
Did you know you're supposed to be there?
You have to be there for me.

Daddy, don't go
Daddy, don't go
Daddy, please don't go
