The thoughts of a prisoner

by Nacole   Dec 15, 2005

In a 6x9 box is where i do my time
I should have my freedom because i didn't commit the crime.
All I can do now is sit back and wait for my appeal,
If you ask me now, this is how i feel:
I'm hurt, I'm lonely, I'm scared, but most of all, I'm curious,
These feelings get you nowhere in here, you have to be tear less.
The greatest pain comes from being taken away from people who love you most,
Things change with friends, to them you're just a ghost.
People look at you differently when you get out,
You have to prove to them what you're all about.
It's hard to live a day in my shoes,
My freedom belongs to 3 people, they get to choose.
It's up to me whether i make it or not,
Whatever the outcome, It's an experience that won't be forgot.
I miss my family more and more each day,
Doing time is hard, that;s all i can say.
I tried my hardest to be all i could be,
This time I'll try harder so i can stay free.

This poem was written by my brother who is in prison.
