A Lovely Winter's Day

by Simon Hayes   Dec 15, 2005

Jack Frost and chilly air
Winter is certainly here
The wind biting at my nose
Glad I put on loads of clothes

Trees are glistening with frozen tips
The cold air freezing my tender lips
My hands firmly tucked away
In my pockets where they'll stay

Around my neck a scarf wrapped tight
I don't want that chill to bite
My nose is cold and getting runny
My ears are starting to feel so funny

On my way to work I go
The cold is getting to every toe
Across the field I make my way
Another lovely winters day

Very nice poem Simon. It captures all the essence of winter. I felt chills reading it. Actually, maybe it's because it's cold here and there so much snow! haha
