Aren't you Still here?

by Suchapoetictradgedy   Dec 16, 2005

These feelings, pouring from my heart.
But, somehow, I can’t force my hand to write.
For maybe if I don’t,
You will still be here with me tonight.

But truly, aren’t you still here,
Your love and care a blanket around us all?
Don’t you still live on in our hearts?
Aren’t you still here?

At first in disbelief, then
I realized you were gone.
Not being able to find,
The ground to be able to stand upon.

I know you’re in heaven now,
What a better place to be.
But you’ve left us alone,
Though aren’t you still here?

This pain consumes all of us,
Feelings of hurt dwell within.
We know you are in heaven now,
What a better place to be.

I can’t find the strength to talk,
You would find this hard to believe.
But Grandpa, I love you so much.
And I’m sitting here, wishing you didn’t leave.

Trying to comfort others, and myself
Looking for the words to say.
But I’ve realized now,
Nothing will take this pain away.

Finding joy in simple things,
Remembering the stories you’d tell.
Guessing that everyone here,
Feels this pain too.

These tears shed here today,
Voices cracking among us.
Hearing all the pain within,
Just know that we will miss you.

Fighting back the thoughts of pain,
Trying to remember the good.
But every time I get close to joy,
It brings me to my knees.

I guess these times will stay with me,
Forever and always,
Thinking about all the fun we’ve had.
I cry again for you.

The outside matches my feelings,
Oh so dreary and so bleak.
These feelings to will pass,
But on some other day.

Fish fry’s, fishing, laughing,
And hunting season.
Sharing stories of your past,
We will never forget you.

So please help us not forget,
The dear times we’ve spent with you.
Let us hold the dear one’s close,
And comfort each other.

Nobody is happy, no joy to be seen.
Though deep down, we all know
That soon we will be able,
To look at your Picture.

Look at your picture once more,
And with smiling faces say,
That’s “Buck” Maxey,
A hero of his own.

A hero to his family,
A man of many thoughts.
Fix-it all type of guy, with
A heart so very soft.

His outsides a little gruff,
His hands were tough.
But this we know for sure,
That his heart was pure gold.

We know you’re in heaven now,
What a better place to be.
You live on in our hearts,
And we know you’re still here.
