Dreamt in Color

by Brian n Josh   Dec 19, 2005

My world is only black and white
Bland and unfulfilling, the senses never take flight
But yesterday, I met another
And that night, I dreamt in color

You were dressed in red
Sitting on a lustrous bed
Surrounded by pedals of roses
Beautiful smells that tickled our noses

It was Passion

Around us were columns of gold
Glimmering so bold
The sun shone so bright
Our skin grew warm from its light

It was Wholeness

Through the columns ran a luxurious brook
Its clear waters gave off a richly look
And in the distance was the ocean
Its shades of blue mixed in gentle motion

It was Calmness

I walked to you through the gentle grass
Shades of green that looked like stained glass
We rolled around
Then we laid there on the ground

It was Gentleness

We watched the sky
The clouds floated by
Majestic objects flying about
With no specific route

It was Carelessness

Flowers around us, purple and pink
Growing in blotches, like spilled ink
A butterfly came; its wings matched the flowers
Its coloring was vibrant, giving it mezmorizing powers

It was Love

Not so far were mountains so grand
They seemed to be a new, mysterious land
To them we went
This is what I dreamt

It was Inspiration

A multitude of colors
Was what I dreamt when I met another
Never known were they before
And as I saw them, I only wanted more

I wanted all the shades
The Coppers to the jades
The Rusts to the Sands
The Maroons to the Tans

But there was a cost
I awoke and the colors were lost
This lack of beauty
Was what greeted me

Black and white
Dark and Light
The world was the same
This is the greatest pain

But I arose only to be deceived
What I saw I barley believed
A woman of brilliant color
Smiling up at me, it was the other

And that other was you
And with you came the brilliant hues
You made my dream come alive
You made my soul begin to thrive

So I want to thank you
For making me realize that I love you
You are always on my mind
And without you I am color blind

It's all because of that night where I met that other
I dreamt in color...
