My Corner

by Reeca Dae   Dec 22, 2005

I sit in my corner,
knees up, arms crossed,
bruised, crying, afraid;
and thinking of the life I almost lost.
He was drunk again, and very angry
of course it wasn't the first time
that he'd come at me
bat swinging,
commiting a crime.
This time was different though,
I had a plan.
After 7 years of abuse...
I would kill this man.
He came at me with that same dented steel bat...
cursing and tripping all the while.
Till I pulled out the gun,
and erased his smile.
5 shots rang out,
2 in his chest, 2 in his head...
1 in his throat...
just to make sure he's dead.
For the next minute,
I stared at the bullet infested man.
Then I heard the distant siren echo.
That's when I went back to my corner,
and wondered if, somehow, my mind would let these nightmares go.
