Christmas Day

by Simon Hayes   Dec 22, 2005

Sitting by the Christmas tree
A wintry Christmas day
Opening all the presents
That Santa once had on his sleigh

Smiley, cheery faces
As each present is given out
Jumping with joy
And leaping with a shout

Pulling all the crackers
Hooked on the Christmas tree
A joke inside that makes us laugh
A gift for you and me

Everyone at the table
Dinner is nearly cooked
Turkey steaming hot
We\'ve already been and looked

Glass of wine for everyone
Christmas pud is on it\'s way
Kids just want to move along
With their toys they want to play

The snow outside is falling
Setting such a lovely scene
No one will forget today
Cause Santa sure had been!

Hey don't worry about it not being your best Simon. Poetry is personal, and we cannot judge a person. That is why I never give bad ratings to poems. I just give helpful advice, or leave compliments. This is a good poem, and since I have read alot of your poems, a few things are the same, but it's ok. Original ideas will pop into place soon. Take care and keep writing!
