Lakeside View

by erratic hippie   Dec 24, 2005

After the standard mosquito shower, I play
connect-the-dots with my fingernails,
these adorned

with more paint than the ramshackle rowboats drifting casually along
a cloudy sky, mimicked by the jaded water.

poker-faced fishermen, busy with the strenuous activity
of comatose sport, long to return

to their posts on beer-stained sofas,
clicker
in
hand.

Click.
the empty coolers echo above the fanfare of dawn.

nutmeg squirrels play tag, their acrobatics choreographed
under a forest-filtered light show.

just as well - these children had no knees to skin.
