My Friend

by Sarah Davis   Dec 24, 2005

I can't be the wall to block out the tears,
And I can't give you false words,
They won't make anything right,
I can't right every wrong done to you,
But I can lend a hand to pull you through.
You can bathe my shoulder in your tears,
I offer it to you always,
Through it all I'll be near you,
Forever inside your heart.
I can sit with you and ride throughout the storm,
We can endure the brutal waves of the sea,
And in the end we'll conquer and see their anger cease.
You are my friend,
As you will always be 1,000 years from now.
You are my friend,
And even though I can't set everything right,
I will always walk beside you.
