I laid on my bed last night.
pretending to be asleep.
i could hear my mom and dad fighting.
it was all because of me.
i started to cry.
when my mom told him.
"she is like that because of you.
she hates you."
i winced as i heard him smack her.
i wanted to run down there to help her.
i knew i would get hurt too.
i crept to my parents room.
i took the phone and called the cops.
i told them to hurry before it was too late.
he was coming.
i heard him.
i crept back to my room quickly.
i laid on my bed.
just as i heard the sirens.
he put the gun to my head.
"did you call the cops?" he asked.
"no." i replied.
he smacked me and threw me to the ground.
i cried and pleaded for him to leave me alone.
it was only seconds before the cops would show.
i asked him where my mom was at.
he said don't worry she's not coming back.
i wondered what he had done to her.
i never heard a shot fire.
i heard the hallway stair creak.
he didn't hear.
i heard the police tell him to drop the gun.
that only made him want to kill me more.
"i love you daddy.
i really do.
please don't hurt me daddy.
I'll never be bad again i swear."
he lowered the gun.
then raised it to his head.
"close your eyes."
i closed them.
"i love you too."
