Hidden

by Casey   Dec 31, 2005

My scars are hidden
beneath long sleeves
my depression hidden
by a smile that rarely leaves.

But when I am alone
I show what I try to hide
I release
what I usually confide.

I roll up my sleeves
and call upon my friend
see if today
might be my end.

But as always
I am too afraid
too careful with the blade
I can never release who I am.

Still, the blade will be my friend
and I will rely on it
until my heart mends
so till then, I will hide.
