A Single Red Rose

by Ice   Jan 3, 2006

I walked onto the church grounds,
a sudden beating in my heart,
I remembered that what you said to me,
about the way we are apart.

You thought that I was mad at you,
so shopping for a gift you went,
you wanted to apologize,
even if it cost you every cent.

So here I was waiting for Youth,
my favorite night of the week,
waiting with my best friend,
for the games to peek.

But before anything began to start,
I saw you get out of your car,
a gift bag was in your hand,
and you smiled from afar.

The first thing that you handed me,
probably was the best,
you gave me a single red rose,
and I knew you passed the test.

You see Rick it's like this,
that rose meant everything to me,
it meant that you cared,
and that is was me you wanted to see.

So I thank you for that one gift,
it is treasured in my heart,
we'll always be together,
even if we are apart.
