Cuts and Scars

by Jackie   Jan 4, 2006

You promised yourself, it won't happen
You never dreamt that it would
You thought that you were over this
You thought this was gone for good

But one small reminder
One miniscule thing
Comes floods of memories
And the tears that they bring

You never expected it would come
When you were most vulnerable and lost
You never thought you'd feel this hurt again
You thought you knew the cost

All it took was one flick of the wrist
And the blood begins to flow
You wished it didn't bring you the comfort
That you used to know

You can imagine the disgusted looks
You can practically hear the jeering cries
Pray the tears don't start falling
Blot the redness from your eyes

The next day, keep your sleeves pulled down low
Just keep telling them you're doing great
Making sure your scars don't show
Don't seal them to your fate
