I AM

by Munir Mezyed   Jan 6, 2006

They inquire who I am
I behold anger and perplexity
In their eyes
Ask the sea...
The earth...
Birds...
Trees...
And the sands...
Ask the gods whom you worship...
Whom I may be......
They will tell you who I am.

I am he who searches through your vicious claws
For the secret of human sorrows
The cause of the orphans' cries
And the widows' fears
Seeking the humanity you crave to kill

I am the one who burns the triangle of death...
For residing in my soul...
Rain and fire
Poems and a harp
For lo! I am the voice of your conscience
Exacting retribution
For the guilt you bear
