I wear a mask

by Sarah   Jan 10, 2006

I wear a mask so i can hide my fear
i wear a mask so i can be the lead in my play.
i wear a mask so i don't love.
i wear a mask so you cant seek me out.
i wear a mask so i don't cry...but
I'm getting tired of being this mask...this mask is not me.
and slowly my mask is breaking down
like a broken Periclean doll
and i find myself slowly loving you.
and showing you my fear
I'm letting you be the lead in my play.
this mask of mine is not letting me be me.
and its not letting me cry.
its not letting me be sought when i want to be sought.
i must break this mask--
so i can be free
free to be me.
