Developing Thorns -Part 1-

by Nada & Kris   Jan 13, 2006

*Collaboration, Katie started & Nada wrote every other stanza thereafter*

A single delicate rose
Laid on the table with perfection
Beautiful crimson red petals
Along with sharp thorns

Its thorns remind me of a lot of things
Each one another thorn
The rose has wilted
From its battered battles

Though the rose is wilting
Thorns remain hard & firm
Like the pain inside stays
As I fade slowly away

To me; the stem was everything
It kept me safe; from everyone
Yet the thorns remain
Inside my weakened heart

The stem holding me up strong
When I thought I'd wilt & die
Thorns pierce my heart
Each a memory; another heartache

The rose wanted to grow normally
Just like all the other flowers
But they never wanted it
So she developed the thorns
