Of Rocks and Roses

by PaperAngel   Jan 14, 2006

And the darkness floods back into my life,
Blanking out all I've done,
And once more everything is dead,
Like the roses among the rocks.

No heartbeat, no pulse,
I've ceased to exist over these long years.
And I walk down the long corridor of the end,
Like the roses among the rocks.

The ravens feed upon my corpse,
Their black eyes reflecting my thoughts,
And my bones turn to white dust,
Like the roses among the rocks.

My life has no meaning to yours,
Hatred and emptiness next to your glowing light,
And it was never meant to be,
Like the roses among the rocks.

And the sun shall never again warm my bloodless skin,
Forever entombed beneath the daisies,
And I'll remember your face when all else forgets you name,
Like the roses among the rocks.
