A gift from love

by Laura Ash   Jan 15, 2006

I know it's just a necklace
And I really don't care
It was just so I know
Your still waiting somewhere

The reason I got it
Was because you were gone
You had on just like it
That you always had on

I thought that if
I had something that you treasured
Even if we're apart
Our love would be equally measured

As long as I had it
I felt as if you were here
Being with you
Makes me smile from ear to ear

The necklace broke apart
Towards the end of fall
I found some pieces
But I did not find it all

I tried to put it back together
But it was not long enough
Even though
I still did not give up

I make it into bracelets
I made it into two
I'll keep one for me
And I'll give one to you

Let it be a reminder
That there is still faith
We don't have to lose someone special
And no longer have to hate

I know this bracelet
Is not a lot
But when I see it
"True love" was all I thought

We can have one each
To prove that fate was wrong
As each day passes
Hope will keep us strong

When mine is on my wrist
Know that I will still wait
As long as you have yours
I'll know you still have faith

We can let the world know
That even if someone's gone
It doesn't mean it's forever
And you don't always have to move on
