A Mother's Love

by Liz   Jan 22, 2006

A shrieking scream rings in the air,
A new mother holds her newborn with care,
She smiles down at the small pink face,
But inside she thinks, "We must escape this place..."
She's wide awake in the dark of the night,
Climbing out her window she spread her wings and took flight,
But as soon as she was in the sky,
Her darling newborn began to cry,
"Hush my young one or he'll hear!"
He snatched her out of the sky with a scream,
She trashed about to escape this bad dream..

She lays in her cage beaten black and blue,
This misery of her life only her master knew,
Their child was to become his slave,
But she would rather weep over her daughter's grave....

She cries a lullaby to her darling child,
Wrapping her hands around the child's neck, she must have gone wild!
Her daughter began crying,
Suddenly she realized her baby was dying,
"I'm sorry my love but soon I will join you with the help of this knife..."
Her baby turns cold and she realizes that she's left this life...

As she brings the knife to her moon-like skin,
She weeps "Please forgive me for this sin..."
She says, looking above,
"But this was simply the best way... to show a mother's love..."
