One Bullet Down

And she cries all alone
And she thinks about why
And as she slowly cuts her wrists
She just wants to die

Her life is written as a story
Hell is carved upon her vein
Memories of a broken past
Remain so vivid on her brain

Her memories are so alive
They play like a movie scene
She only thinks of her past
And the things that have been

And as she sits there thinking
About the rumours and the lies
She listens to her daddy’s punches
And her mummy’s begs and cries

She knows its coming soon
Its going to be her time once more
If there’s anything in this world
She knows this is for sure

Mummy’s unconscious in the lounge room
So daddy starts his sweet talk
After about an hour or so
It’ll be time for her to walk

And she walks into her daddy’s room
One bullet down, with the revolver
There’ll be no more hell on earth
And there’ll be no more cold shoulders

And so she walks all alone
Without a friend or a hope
And as she puts the gun to her temple
She thinks of the way she had to cope

Her mummy has the glasses on
There’s not a tear in her daddy’s eye
Her friends are comforting each other
And asking each other why

The sermon says his final words
As they lay her body down to rest
Roses are thrown into darkness
And then her body is blessed

Her mummy starts to break down
She realises she’s not coming home
Her baby girl has left this world
As she entered, all alone

And her family, all dresses in black
Pretending they knew her tortured soul
The only thing that they know
Is in her head, that gaping hole

Her daddy kept his sin to himself
Never spoke of it to anyone
But on her 21st birthday
Her daddy reached for that same gun
