Why love?

Why would you walk away from me
and give up what you called love
why would you not treat my heart
like a gentle, lonesome dove?

How could you confess true love to me
and say words you don't really mean
how could you say you're in love with me
yet still leave your heart unseen?

When did you know I was not the one
at what point did your game begin
when did you feel was the right time to say
you look at me as nothing but a friend?

Where did you think you crossed the line
when did you realize you should stop
where did this thing we shared go wrong
why call it love if you know it's not?
