Illusion of Friendship

by Maisha   Jan 25, 2006

Your words hurt
More than you'll ever know
But the tears stay silent
Deep, as far as they can go.

My eyes fill
As my heart breaks
But no one hears
Or marks the date.

For this has happened
Many a time
THe illusion of friendship
Spreads its poison like the sound of a chime.

It seems like I cry more
Often than I laugh
But I cannot do anything
To erase the past.

Look right through me
As you often do
But do not pretend
To love me for that'd be cruel.

Harboured away my dark feelings
Smiled at the world
Pretended to be happy
But now my soul has completely curled.

You want a friend
That you can manipulate
Into your bidding
But nothing to take.

The illusion of friendship
Stays present in me
But a victim to you
I shall never be.

I'll be strong
And pretend to laugh
But when I collapse
Will you come or just dash?

Your running will make sense
For it seems that
Your heart is not
As pure as you percieve.

Blackened by misery
And broken by heartache
But all of your choices
Guided by fate.

Do not hug with fake love
Or kiss with fake lips
My heart can't withstand
Any more illusions of friendship.
