The Nothing

by Ashelin   Jan 26, 2006

How can I explain
What I see behind closed doors?
Hidden away
But there, all the same?

It's a nothing so dark
That it stops the senses
No sight, sound
No smell or touch

Nothing consumes you
Like a black blanket
You know nothing is there
And yet you know you are

It creeps into you mind
In the dead of night
Sucking away everything
But the fear deep inside

You know nothing is around
You can't even see yourself
But in that consuming blackness
You know with all your heart

That you are now there

This has a really strong concept. i love how the "it" is never identified as something physical, it just remains a feeling. great poem.
