Waiting

by Brittany   Jan 31, 2006

I feel the sun's rays shining down as if God was embracing me in a spotlight. I squint my eyes welcoming the warmth as I stare out the window. I mouth the words "I can't wait" as I see a blue car pull into the driveway. I close the curtain, hoping she didn't see me. I hear a thump of a fist on the door. Trembling with nervousness, I open the door. I stare at the woman before me. It's like looking in a mirror 20 years from now. The woman smiles as she starts to cry. I hug her like Ive never hugged anyone before. I look into her eyes and say, "Mom, welcome home."
