Through the eyes of a prisoner

by Brook   Feb 2, 2006

Theyre eyes are so empty now
Its like looking at a doll.
No emotion at all,
Moving silently,
No troubled calls.

Their skin stretched so tight,
Over their tiny bones.
Its as if they might perish
Out of my sight.

I hear screaming now,
Coming for the gas chambers
Just more bodies to stack
The soldiers say,
As more lives are taken,
Day by day.

I wonder how long
I have left
But hope I remain strong.

You cant let them see fear
Mommy whispers
With her last breath
The fatal disease
Caused her death.

I look around now,
Surrounded by strangers,
Completely alone.

My sister might be back soon,
I hate what she does,
But she does what she has to
To keep us alive
But I have to wonder why.

Finally she enters,
Beaten and bruised,
But with a smile on her face,
Like she just won the last race.

But I know her better than that,
I can see her lying eyes
And hope we get saved
Before she has to say goodbye.
