Where I'm From

by Jay   Feb 3, 2006

I am from bike races
From cuts and red blood
I am from the swimming pool on a sunny day
(Cool and refreshing like a can of sprite)
I am from the bad grades
The letters whose name meant either a whipping
Or a pat on the back

I am from caramel and oily hair
From nestle and wave gel
I am from the happy times
And the sad times
From shut up and sit down
I am from as I walk thru the valley of death
I should fear know evil
And a prayer my dad taught me.

I am from Tammy and Jeff Tubbs
Baked chicken and homemade sauces
From the tears my grandma cried for her husband
The soul my grandpa saved to get to heaven
Under my bed was a shoe box
Kicking out old pictures
A cloud of lost faces rain down on me.

I am from those moments
Snapped before I budded
Leaf- fall from the family tree.
